Designated Pass Through Funds
HINTON LITTLE LEAGUE FUND
This fund was created by Gene Fife to help maintain the ballpark for the Hinton Little
League.  Gene graduated from Hinton High School, attended Virginia Tech, and went on to a
very successful career in business and finance in London, England.  Gene has served as a
beacon for the people of Summers County and helped many students with his scholarship
fund.

VETERANS MEMORIAL MUSEUM FUND
This fund was created under the leadership of Carl Edwards, a World War II veteran, to
support the Veteran's Memorial Museum in the old Carnegie Library Building on Ballengee
Street.  The museum is open to the public and contains many interesting artifacts and
memorabilia from local veterans.

SUMMERS COUNTY SWIMMING POOL PROJECT
This fund created by Gene Fife is to encourage the raising of additional funds for a much
needed community swimming pool.  A community pool is needed to teach children to swim,
youth athletic competitions, adult exercise sessions, and senior health programs.  
Established in 2001.

HINTON MAIN STREET ASSISTED LIVING FUND
This pass-through fund was established to create an assisted living facility in Summers
County.

CLAUDE WORTHINGTON BENEDUM FOUNDATION COMMUNITY BUILDING PROJECT &
MINI-GRANT PROGRAM
The Hinton Area Foundation acts as fiscal agent for the joint Tri-County Champion
Community/Benedum Foundation community building program.  This grant provided group
and leadership training to approximately 500 people from poverty areas in Summers,
Fayette and Greenbrier Counties as a prerequisite to the $2000 mini grant program.  One
hundred and eighteen teams attended training sessions and qualified for $2000 grants for
one hundred and eighteen community projects.

HINTON DEPOT RESTORATION FUND
The Hinton Area Foundation is serving as Treasurer for the Hinton Depot Restoration
Committee.  The Depot Restoration Committee appreciates this service offered by the
Foundation.  The Restoration Committee is sponsoring fund raisers to assist with insie
restoration of the Depot.  Established in 2003.
