THE CLIFFORD YOUNG BEQUEST
This fund was created when the late Clifford Young made a bequest in his will to
allocate monies to help those suffering from diabetes.  His wishes were fulfilled by his
wife who place $20,000 with the foundation for this purpose.

CRIPPLED CHILDREN'S FUND
This will of Lacy Wood left half of his estate to help crippled children.  The initial
endowment of $175,000.00 came into the Foundation in the late 1999.  The Foundation
has established a committee which receives and assesses request for aid from the
families of crippled children.

SUMMERS COUNTY LIBRARY FUND
This is the largest of our designated funds.  The Friends of the Library have had several
very successful fund drives, including a challenge drive from the Walker Foundation.  
Only the income from the fund goes to the operation, maintenance and support of the
Summers County Public Library, as the endowment cannot be invaded.

WEST VIRGINIA WATER FESTIVAL FUND
For many years, Summers County has hosted the West Virginia Water Festival on our
lake and rivers.  The fund originated with a $10,000 bequest in the will of Joyce Jarrell to
assist in funding future festivals.

VFW POST 4500 Fund
This fund was established by the Veterans of the Foreign Wars to use for community
projects.

ZIEGLER AND GUNNOE FUND
This fund was created by David Ziegler and Richard Gunnoe.  The primary purpose of
this fund is to create a program to be administered by a committee of the Hinton Area
foundation to bring special cultural, scientific, artistic and historic programs to Summers
County.
LILY-WILSON EDUCATION FUND
This fund was created by Patty Lilly Wilson and Ralph O. Wilson, Jr. to honor their parents.  Mabel Lilly Lasio, Cecil C. Lilly, Helen
Chadwick Wilson and Ralph O. Wilson, Sr.  Income from the fund will be granted to the Summers County Teacher of the Year.  The
grant has no restrictions and may be used in any way by the teacher.  Established in 2002.

JOHN E. AND MARJORIE BURDETTE FUND
Established by their children, the John E. and Marjorie E. Burdette fund is established to provide grants for the Hinton Area Little
League and for Summers County Students majoring in elementary education at Concord College.  Established in 2003.

ANIMAL CONTROL AND WELFARE PROJECT, INC. FUND
The Animal Control and Welfare Project, Inc., is the Humane Society for Summers County.  This fund was established by members
of the organization to support its mission.  That mission includes adoption of unwanted animals, spaying and neutering animals,
investigation of animal abuse, establishment of a full-service shelter, and education.  Established in 2003.
